11/24/2024: KIMT 3 NEWS (CBS): Peacock Books & Bistro

“Fudge, Fried Chicken, Art, and Books?”

Here’s the story about my bookstore and bistro that the KIMT Channel 3 News (CBS) aired at 5 p.m. today. It is supposed to run at 10:00 p.m., too, if you want to watch it

The story is about my Peacock Books & Bistro expansion unto the Peace Plaza, the prime location for any business, located in the heart of downtown Rochester, Minnesota, that connects up to the Mayo Clinic. My customers are international, and they stop every time they are back in Rochester for their checkups, or annual meetings. Until recently, we focused on selling my photos, comics, and art; books from my publishing house, and other publishers’ titles, classics, collections, and rare books. Many customers leave with our fudge my husband makes, around 150 flavors, with four of them sold on QVC Television (2011).

The other night, one of our regulars came in and told me, “You guys are all over Facebook.” She laughed, and then added, “They’re calling you the “Chicken Bookstore.”

KIMT picked up on it, and in this news story they share the details of our move, the history behind the name, share our new location, and share our bookstore that has no problem drawing in people for southern-fried chicken while the sample our books and fudge.

A big thank you to the journalist, Maureen Dudley, and the entire news team at KIMT for your coverage.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Workers from a Twin Cities-based tile and stone company have been in Peace Plaza this week working to reset several pavers that have become unsettled, causing a tripping hazard.

The pavers were installed during the $18.6 million Heart of the City project that was finished in 2022. Some of the pavers have raised lettering on them and some do not. Both styles have settled in some places and have become uneven in some places...https://www.kttc.com/2024/11/16/work-continues-resetting-peace-plaza-pavers-city-looks-future-solutions/

11/01/2024: NaNoWriMo started today. Authors from all around the world attempt to write a 50K word novel this month. In 2009, Lisa Loucks-Christenson, participated in her first NaNoWriMo novel-in-a-month challenge. She was one of the 12-18% that finished that year, according to a statistic she’d seen.

Timber Wolves Flood Rescue is the first book in her WOLVES OF WHITEWATER FALLS series. Since that year, some of the work she published hit #1 on Amazon. Another book won a book cover award for her illustration, and she’s penned several spin-off novels. All of her supernatural wolves' books are connected.

In the Wolves of Whitewater Falls, the Wolves are constant guides to Annie, the lead female protagonist, as she covers her bald eagle documentary, and solves the mysteries and challenges she runs into while covering her outdoor beat.

Lisa creates her fictional stories using her actual field notes, photos, and research she created while covering her real bald eagle documentary. Lisa is also writing a Historical Fiction series based on Annie’s great-grandmother’s life when she arrived in Whitewater Falls.

Only part of the series has been released. Lisa is saving the rest of the book’s publication dates for a later time.

Lisa’s current book for her November 2024 NaNoWriMo book challenge is titled THE HOUSE THIEF, Book 15, WOLVES OF WHITEWATER FALLS series.

In this “friends in high places” psychological suspense thriller, it will take a pack of supernatural wolves, Annie and Mason to consider the deal-of-a-lifetime when the broker and real estate agent she trusted begins staking her home with “For Sale” signs.

Sometimes, God’s plans can redirect the hearts of those that trust Him. Vengeance is the Lord's when the broker she trusted puts into motion his plan to steal the equity she’s built, and worse, a sinister plan to take her home.

In this high stakes game, one of wits, presumed power and money; Annie and her trusted prayer partners must trust that God is in the finest details of the contracts when they uncover evidence that can prove a motive.

Some people may have thrown in the towel, but with one touch of God’s favor, Annie is convinced that this house thief and his plan couldn’t have happened at a better time.
