This is the story about two toads, Jasper Traine, a toad who died, found God and was given the opportunity to return to his life on earth if he’d share, with the help of Jessica Duke (the love of his life), God’s messages.
Jasper Traine Toad Extoadinaire and Jessica Duke Film Star, two voicetrous toads that I found hopping down the "Telemark roads" on two different years of my life during my husband's cancer, and the next year my health changes, during the first two years of the pandemic. From the moment I introduced the toads to each other, they were inseparable. This part is true, with photos to prove it.
The comic’s name, Toads of Telemark™ came easily to me the night Jasper Traine Toad Extoadanaire crossed my path. While I picked him up, my daughter and I heard the low whistle of the distant train passing through Rochester, Minnesota. In that moment, I knew Jasper had arrived before the long winter, into our lives that night, in that moment for a reason.
Each illustration is created on 3x3 sticky notes in various colors and inks to give different moods and effects. I create one illustration a day from the stories the toads share with me.
